You're a little ahead of the curve, probably one of the first customers to have your hands on this model although you're certainly a doing a good job of posting your fingers off about it all over the place! Anyway, on their board Riva says they are starting to look at, or just thinking about, future mods for the VX's. Sounds life if you want a faster, better-riding VX110 you should just trade it in for an FX HO.

It will be very interesting to see which way Riva go to pick up some horsepower. The compression ratio on the 1052cc VX motor is a half point lower than the FXHO 1052cc motor but the same as the 998 cc FX140 motor.
VX is 11.4 : 1 as is the 998 motor but the HO is 11.9 :1.

It has to improve its rpm 25% and its power almost 50% to equal the FXHO ...a big ask when you are behind the 8 ball with compression already.
Timing on the motor is different also so will need a piggy back module to spin motor to 10k ..take 4 degrees timing out ???

The VX motor revving lower might have different cams and rods ? Crank ? IMHO I think you might pick up 20 hp with a reasonable outlay ..but big bucks to much further ??

Be very interesting being a fly on the wall at Riva when they open a VX motor up and have a peek !!

    The VX110 isn't a performance craft, it's the most affordable 4 strokes 3 seater.

It is NOT meant for performance.

The other area worth a look is the pump and the impeller speed between the two !!
My FXHO impeller turns at 6802 rpm at redline
The VX impeller turns at 5442 rpm at redline.

There is supposedly a 9-10mph difference between the two. Be interesting to compare impeller pitch between them ....re-pitch an impeller to in-between the two and turn the VX 1000rpm higher maybe ? Might be good for 4-5 mph ?

You'll have to find the torque to turn it and it might be there ? You might lose bottom end acceleration though with too much pitch of course ?

Lucky there is Riva around !!

I gotta agree with 11 this time. The reasons to buy a VX110 are its affordability, and probably even better (than the FX's) reliability and fuel efficiency due to the engine being tuned down from that of its big brothers. Why buy that and then start messing with mods for more speed, when you'll probably end up spending as much ore more as you would have on a more expensive, powerful model, and no longer have a nice user-friendly stock boat? If good top speed is what you want, why not just buy one of the faster models in the first place?

Didn't this guy just start talking about getting one on Wednesday (the day he joined)? Now he has one and wants more speed? No break-in period?
    Sounds funny to me!

    Mute point

This would be a good example of why it's important to find a dealer (even if you have to travel far) who will let you first demo/test ride the watercraft before you buy. Even the "lower priced" VX110 is still too much to spend in my opinion not to demo first. If you called every dealer and said, "I'm ready to buy one of your Yamahas, RIGHT NOW. I have cash in or my credit score is (input good credit score) and I want to buy as long as you can allow me to first ride different models to decide which one I want to buy then I will buy from you TODAY (or that day)." If you did this you'd find a dealership that would allow you to test ride different models.

Also, along with being an affordable ski, It's my understanding that it's also meant more for versatility/family fun then performance. Towing, picnicing, riding 3 up, stability, reliability etc.

I agree with others above, looks like you bought the wrong ski and you bought it too early. You'll be apart of their pilot release.
